4.6 q's

are there any serious hop ups out there for the little brother 4.6 to get it pumping extra ponies out? or would i be best off building a 360 block from scratch to perform? what im goin for is a performance off road truck (almost baja if you will) and im going to start with the motor, now im not going to try for near 1k hp as my pocket book isnt that deep  .
but what route should i take? fuel injected or go back to carburated? i love the good old turn the key on for a sec, pump it once and flick the key once and it rumbles to life. but fuel injections more complicated and effiecient, but longer cranking time?

i dunno, maybe some of you guys could shed some light on me. i want to build a :rocker: truck

oops forgot to add, if i go with a bigger motor than the 4.6 can i get a manual tranny thatll mount up? i love manual trannys.

or we can not shed light.

Well you could swap the motor out for the 5.4L, which has PLENTY of mods available...there is also stuff out for the 4.6L, but I think your options are a little wider with the 5.4.

The 5.4L should hoook up to a manual just fine...dont see why it wouldnt.

Someone else will have to answer your other questions/add/correct mine :)

so more mods for the 5.4... ok my problem is finding the manual tranny that can hold it... if all else fails i can go to wyotech and build a animal engine pushing around andover 1k hp.

http://www.fordpartsonline.com has a manual tranny for a 99-03 F150/F250 for $101.68

They also have quite a few engine parts and other tranny stuff, etc etc...I noticed they also had a selection for F150 Lightnings, but I dont know if the engines and those parts are going to be much different.

But if you can build your own engine w/ 1000HP, why not go for that? Although I would think that might be more expensive...

well if i had deep pockets i would just so i could have a truck thatll perform offroad and make rice burners look silly at the same time :P
thats a good link im keeping that. thx

there is also fordpartscheap.com which, as far as I can tell, is the exact same site...same layout...same prices (that I have noticed), same parts...

$101!?!?!?! What is that all about? What does that include and is it Ford FQR or new / used? If you can get a complete 5-speed manual tranny for $100 why wouldn't you purchase, and have it shipped off to make bullet proof?

Dont shoot the messenger :)

I assume it's not the complete tranny.

Looking at the other parts under manual transmission:

EXTENSION HOUSING BUSHING, F150-250 97-03 $101.68

EXTENSION HOUSING SEAL, F150-250, 4WD 97-01 $8.88
Parts And Prices Are For Estimating Purposes Only. Order By Transmisison Stamp Number.

TRANSMISSION, F150-250, All 99-03 $101.68
Parts And Prices Are For Estimating Purposes Only. Order By Transmisison Stamp Number.

For comparison:
Automatic tranny for 5.4L: $1,272

I think you would have to call them and find out what is actually included in all that.
