what are teh best mods with out losing the warranty and that do not cost to much it is a Screw with 2200 on it and the 5.4 with 3.55 ls rear end i'm keeping it 3 years and geting a new one it so i do not want to put to mugh in it

Can you define how much is too much ?

That is a subjective answer for alot of people.

As for loosing the warrenty, there is nothign specific that will cause you to loose the warrent coverage. Anything you do can be subject to examination if something were to fail, but it is not a given that a warrenty claim can be denied due to non-Ford parts being installed.

What are you looking for in the way of mods, sound only, a slight pick me up, or more serious pick me ups ( 40 HP area ).

Some things that you can do are similar to Troyer Performances Stage 1 kit, but that is about $1,000.00 for a xhip, intake and xhst system.

You can add to this an Electric Fan kit, and pick up a bit more.

If you look at modding with recovery of the modification, get a something like ( or exactly like ) a Troyer Performance Stage 1 kit with the MicroTuner, and electric fans.
When you go to sell the truck:

FIPK keep the stock intake, and put it back on, and reclaim your AF1 FIPK for resale or reuse.
Muffler : Most likey the stock one you chucked over the junk yard fence, but if you keep it, you can put the stock system back one and try to seel the one you have, but that sounds like a PITA to me.
Tuner : Download the stock program to the PCM, and reclaim the tune in the micro tuner for reuse or resale ( wider range then a chip for a specific PCM version ).
Fans : put the stock fan clutch, fan and shroud back on, and you can re-use the electric fans on the next truck ( the nice part of the Troyer kit vs the truck specific FAL kit that I have ).

So all in all, the only possiable loss is the muffler system, as far as giving it away with the truck when you sell it / trade it in.

The other side, is how much those parts will have in resale and/or resue in 3 years...got me maybe some maybe none.

If you want more simplistic, and less of a gain, you can swap out the stock muffler using the existing pipe, and put on a FIPK and Chip. Not a bad setup, but not optimal.

The other nice part of the Troyer setups, you can buy them one at a time, rather then the requirement of all at once, if that is appealing to you.

I noticed a step up with the Gibson ST system over stock, and then another step up with the true duals.

I never tried a straight up muffler replacement, so I cannot comment, but I would have to say one of the larger MagnaFlow or Flow masters would keep the noise level down, and the performance up.

If you ask Mike Troyer, he would be able to fill you in on the while thing, as to what to expect.

You can find Mike Troyer in the computer chips section as Superchips_Distirbutor.

Give that man a call and he can give you some good advice on what to buy.

My advice is put that 3 years and trade on hold. Drop some bucks on some of Mike's mods over the next couple of years and you'll have a truck that you won't want to trade off.

My old '98 with the 4.6 is putting out 100+ hp over stock. Let me tell you, I'm having a ball. My only regret is not getting the 5.4 motor in this truck. This one is paid for and running great.

Airforce one, Superchip, and Magnaflow (not too loud) would be a good start.
