Engine Vac??

Anyone ever get that "enginevac" service done?
At my last visit they tried to sell it to me ($130)
They said it removes all the carbon build up from inside the engine and that I should get it every 20,000 kilometers.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

Thanks
Habibi

My pops has a 97 Lariat and has never had that treatment done. He now has 180,000 miles on his truck, and it sounds better than my 01. He uses a bottle of Red Line SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner every oil change. The only other things he does to maintain a clean engine: Mobil 1 synthetic and Chevron gas (91 octane).

I don't know much about the treatment, but I would think every 20,000 km is excessive.

Let's see what others have to say...

I use Redline too, good stuff!! I had a rough idle about two years ago, and that stuff was sitting on the shelf in a street rod shop. I decided what the hell and bought a bottle. It's the only fuel additive that I've ever seen an actual difference from. Smoothed it right out.,,,,98

I had one of those similar "services" done on my 86 5.0 van, and I noticed absolutlely NO difference. You talking about the stuff they suck through the vacuum system??,,,,98

My friend that owns my 95 had it done and it had 0 difference.

No power increase, no mpg increase. I told the only thing it cleaned out was his wallet. :p

One person that I know had it done, it was a 1978 Blazer with 250,000 miles, and he claimed it helped in the power department. So I have heard second hand of one person that thought it was worth it.

Every 20,000 KM, I think not. Sounds like another way to get it into the shop for revenue generation to me.

Good luck on this one, if you do decide to do it, post the total time on the clock and if it did anything.

Thanks for the replies.

My gut feeling was that it's just a money grab.
My truck has 31,000 kilometers on it now, I've had the oil changed 9x already, and the ff once.
It runs perfect, so I'm thinking why bother if it's not broken.

I thought if it was a good service to get, I would spend the money, but since the replies don't suggest that, I'll save my cash for something important.

Thanks
Habibi
