electric fan ???
I read where people buy electric fans and some have 1 controller, some have 2, some are single fan always on w/secondary thermostat controlled fan, etc. If I remember right my thermostat controlled factory electric fan in my 83 Escort failed, the control part. I went through a couple relays and if I remember right we just wired it on 100% of the time. What would be wrong with this approach? Say, get the large single fan and wire it on full-time. I read where people run cold t-stats so why not just run normat t-stat and leave fan on all the time? What would this hurt? I realize in the winter you wouldn't need it on until the engine got hot but would it hurt? It's been my experience that electric motors like to run at 100% current so my fear is that these 60% fans that kick to 100% when a certain temp is maintained would fail earlier than just running 100%.

100% use
I will have to agree with Ted98. When you look down the road to factor in dependability for the long run. run the fan only when neccesary. Now I personally on another car I have wired up a fan to run 100% just to get me home from a trip. I see no problem with that.
I suggest keeping an ear open for dependable electric fans and common problems maybe you can prevent down the road by communication through message boards. It's a great resource for learning from others mistakes and experiences.
