Cool

you can get the tach i have for less than a hundred bucks over at www.truckperformance.com

but to make it work on our trucks you need a adapter which autometer came out with not too long ago. i believe it is part 9118? check it out at autometer website...i think that was it off the top of my head. if you only need a tach once in a while you can do the digital odometer trick. i need to get my adapter...damn, other mods are just too attractive. good luck!

here is a pic of my tach:

thanks guys,

it looks good, too bad it does not really work yet. i still need that damn adapter.

not sure exactly what the adapter does...all i know is it adjust the tach signal somehow. cause if you just hook it up it is out of range. The rpms move but are always too low on the dial. adapter bumps the signal or something like that. i am excited to get it working.

Yeah looks good LBC. Good luck with it! Hey I noticed you don't have the RPM guage in your cluster, you do have a 5-speed right?

That's weird, I thought for sure they would have RPM guages on the 5-speeds. I figured they would only leave them out on the automatics. As for the **** bars on the driver side, I'm glad I have a '99! But what surprised me is that my girl actually uses it to get in.

Yes... the autometer tach adapter is needed for an external tach for our trucks. It's a device that is suppose to accurately synchronize the tach's reading to actual rpm.

I'm pretty sure they can be had for $50.
