Don't be so hard on your auto tranny man. Do something about it...

- Shift Kit
- Torque converter
- Superchip to help out with shifting pressure/hp increase?

You have potential. Stop worring about everyone elses problems with 97 4.2's so much! Have you had problems with your or something? There are plenty of good 4.2's out there. Seems you are worried for no reason...

Actually ummmm well the engin so far has not given me any probs but there is the problem of the exaust expelling black stuff not sure if its oil or what....it does not smoke it just expells black stuff onto the side of my truck and my rear right 20" Thats the thing that has me worried. As i said befor i hope talley gets on the ball cause if my engin goes i wanna replace it real quick. I probibly won't sell it but you know whats funny ? I have ground effects sitting here at my house for it as well as a Cervini's ram air hood on tha way. that'll probibly be the only reason i keep it.

20 inch wheels? Try putting some 20's on a cougar and see how fast it is. lol

Flawed logic

Syeth,

There are 2 flaws with your logic. The first one is trading in a modded truck. You are going to lose money no matter how you cut it. If you really want something else, sell the truck privately. If you insist on trading it in, strip it back to stock and sell the aftermarket parts to recoup some $$$. No dealer will pay you for mods. Second, a cougar? Not for me. The hot ticket for v6 go fast cars is the mustang. Add a supercharger to a v6 stang and you can be up over 300 HP easily. The other factor is that the mustang has a huge aftermarket, unlike the cougar. Modding the cougar would be like trying to buy mods for our 4.2L trucks, you can't necessarily get what you want.

I would recommend selling your 97 outright, but maybe pull the 20's, L front end, and stereo first, and buy a new or used F-150 with a 4.6 and a manual trans. This will give you the modding ability with the manual trans you want. Slap your old parts on the new truck and you're there.

Hmmm.

Tough choice.

I say this because I like the Cougar and I like the F-150.

There are intercooled turbocharger systems out there that put the V6 Cougar at almost 400 hp. There are also tons of suspension mods you can do to those cars. Body kits are also available.

Tough choice indeed.

But it is alot easier to haul stuff home in a truck, though.

You're a winner either way you go.

I say either keep your truck or go with a V6 mustang that way you stay with the rear wheel drive the Cougar is a Front Wheel Drive POS if you ask me. but then again I'm old school or RWD kind of guy.

For anyone seeking information about the turbo system I mentioned for the Cougars. . .I am almost positive it is put together by a company by HKS.
