Always a interesting topic, let's hear how are 4.2L's are hanging with other cars/trucks. Tell us what you raced and if you won, lost or got pulled over.;) I know are trucks aren't the fastest things but let us know how we compare to others. Also list your mods if any.

Raced a 2000 f150 4.6 and I walked him pretty bad. Raced him like 3 more times and on the 3rd race I spun pretty bad he got out to like a truck length ahead of me and by the time I hit third my rear bumper was at his front bumper and pulling. He was sooo pissed, and he had the guts to say that mine is a v8 when I told him before and after the race it was v6, he just couldn't take it like it was! He got a$$ kicked by v6!:D

To be honest with you.... I have some 300 races I could tell you just in my new truck maybe another 300 in my old truck... but they were mostly losses in that slow auto. hahah... i'm still slow.

I stayed out at the local hangout and at 5 AM I raced this modded supra for $20 and all my buddies said i was a stock v6... I was about 6 lengths in front of him (i was spraying a 75 shot) and it almost result in a fight because he said there is no way i was a v6 that i was a v8. two cop cars came by and i was stopped on the left side of the road... I didn't have my drivers liscence with me because I forgot it when I got the bottle filled at 3d performance. (i wrote a check) the woman cop made me sit in the back of her car untill they checked my plates and got an id of me.

she couldn't give me a ticket for driving without a liscence tho.... about 1 AM that same morning I got busted out at clay road racing. I got a ticket for no liscence, no insurance card, and no front liscence plate. So I walked away from the second case. I eventually got all three dismissed down at the court on lubbock street in houston.

I have literally hundreds of races I could tell you guys about.

Like this one time i got smoked by a 00 Superduty crew cab desiel.... he was running 14.8's with a 155hp chip, volant intake and 5" exhaust. kinda got me thinking.

raced a gmc jimmy 6 cyl vortech. ( not sure about the year)

he had the three basic mods (intake, exhaust, computer tuning). anways, i see him a lot at the rink ( i am a hockey player) and he always talks **** on my truck. i was just like "whatever dude". so we eventually decided to race seeing as how there is a private airport about 1 minute from there that has a long, usually empty, and wide straight away. we ran twice.

1) first time we were neck and neck through 1st, 2nd, and i missed third:mad: needless to say it was over after that.

2) this time he jumped the gun and imediatly pulled a half truck on me. but i held him there all the way to the top of third where we let off due to another car coming up on the road.

so i would say that our trucks were pretty much equal...maybe mine even a little faster if an experianced driver was in it. i plan on racing him again once i get a few more mods. bye the way, i did not have my pulley in then. just my chip, exhaust, and filter. just fyi.

EDIT: we both had 1 other person in the truck (fellow teammates) as well as a hockey bag a piece! lol.

pulley should only be good for .1-.2 in the 1/4 anyhow. no more than that.

What kind of configuration did he have? Ext. cab 4X4 ? Give all the details in the stories at least. :confused:

You beat a 4.6 with just intake and exhaust? Wow, that is kind of hard to believe but O.K. I've raced a few and beatin them all pretty good, but all three times they wooped me off the line. Once I get up to around 50 I really start to get going. Part of it is because of how my truck is geared, and the other is the Chip. I doubt I could blow by them like I do w/out the chip in. These trucks really like speed, and hate accelerating off the line. Talley love the Supra story! That one was great! Keep the stories coming guys. Make sure you list if you have a 5 or 4 speed.

It was a xlt, extended cab, automatic, 17" rims, dual exhaust, and he got beat plain and simple.:D


Now on the other hand I raced my brother in a 94 4.6 v8 thunderbird and I ran with him(<<well kind of) until I hit third and then it was over, walked me pretty bad. It seems that is where my engine is weak, if only that gear was a little stronger hum:confused: (3.73? 4.10? or higher) maybe TALLEYWACKER can help me get the gears right? But honestly I've noticed that coming into third all the f-150's lose a little including lightnings!

the only racing I ever did was at an 1/8 mile strip outside of town. Other than exhaust my truck was stock at that time. I raced a few Chevy's and Ford's equally matched to me and started to get the hang of it. Then I acidentally got matched up with some Honda rice rocket. I don't even know if he had anything on it besides decals and big muffler. Anyways, I ran a 10.976 at 59.xx mph and he ran a 10.4xx ( can't remember exactly). I was really excited that I was that close to him and in a 4x4 truck. I can't wait to go back out when I finish some more mods and burn some people.

Just raced a guy last night in a ex.cab 4.2L. He had to be stock because WOW! I made him look ridicules. I drove up next to him going at about 50 and stayed next to him to see if he wanted to run. I waited for him to try and punch it and pull away from me, and when he did I let it loose and blew by him. I had a good 6 truck lengths on him by the time I started to slow down.

well i've raced a few things..but not too much

i've raced one of my friends caprices...im guessin around 94 or somethin...it was an auto and seemed to be quick...i think it had a v-8 engine, but im not too sure...all i know is that i killed it..i walked it..he even got a head start on me and i just floored it at of first and kept redlining until i beat him to 75mph where we decided to call it

i also raced a 99 mustang v6....well all i can say is that it had to be stock b/c i beat the hell out of it and i doubt it will ever race again...it was the first thing i racd in my truck

i raced my friend with a 2002 camaro z28hes gotta 6 speedand straight pipes...the rearend is 3.73 and he put in K&n...i wish i could come on here and tell u how i opened up and killed his ass..but it didnt go down like that...he beat my ass so bad that i wont race him again unless i hear him stall out.b/c he has yet to be beaten

I've also raced Ford v-8's ..such as trucks with the XLT package...the only ones i have raced were automatics...the main reason i like to race them is b/c they think they are faster than v6's but the truth is..if u care about power..then stay away from automatics....b/c everyone i;ve raced..i've beaten...prob. cause all were automatics and lose more horsepower which defeats the purpose of getting a v-8...its just funny to see reactios

all i can say is that the 4.2 is quick with the 3.55 stock gears and with the manual transmission .i'm very happy with the truck and glad to have it...cant wait to upgrade performance

Really? I thought I got my V8 because it was the most reliable of the 3 engine choices, and it would fair better at towing than the V6? I guess you learn something new every day. :confused:

My buddies old girlfreind always wanted to race me ever sence I got new me 2001 F-150 SC XLT 5.4L 4x4 OFF ROAD. SHE drives a 97 or 98 dodge ram regular cab 4x4 with a 318ci under the hood with a hand full of mods. Any way we went down to the drag strip last summer and I seen her runnig 18.1 at like 70 mph down the track, so she came back and ran again and she did better at 17.8, not bad. so I got in the F-150 and made my first run ever in the truck and I ran about a 17.4 the trans shifted 50 ft before the line so next time i took the o/d off. next run I left the hood up before I made a pass let the motor cool down a little. I ran a 16.9 at 84mph not bad being a stock truck and all. She was pissed so she went home and had some more crap put under the hood and we still have go out there this year and see whats going to happen. I assure you the F-150 will kill that pice of crap, too bad she wont go off road with it. I told her I would be a nice guy and puller here out when she gets stuck. Keep racing

WOW! I got to say those are some horrible times. That Dodge is SLOW! I didn't think anything is slower than the 4.2, but wow! I guess we found something. And your 5.4 obviously didn't do anything spectacular either, sorry to say. I thought you would have done better than that. At least low 16's, the 4.2 does a 17.5 stock and that is slow! I guess it's because you have a 4x4 supercrew. Those things must be tanks. But hey you did beat her and that is all that matters. I'd hate to see what her truck does stock...Poor Dodge owners!:D
