At least, that's why I thought I bought mine...
True, they pull harder off the line(not much), but the V6s like to rev and the 4.6 V8 like to tow(from what I hear). A nicely modded v6(like Mine??) can take an auto 4.6

Had a '79 chevy half ton try to pick a fight with me... that was too funny... 5-spd, not sure of the engine, but it was definately an 8. lol... he chirped the tires and acted like it was something. Guess when I lit mine up at green he realized what he was up against.

schoolbus,

that gibson split rear probably takes a lot of low end away from you, especially if you have an auto. get gears!

well, it's tough to say...ususally getting a dual setup on a 4.2 is not recommended as there is less back pressure which drops low end torque...but it helps the high end....

Anytime you open the diameter of the pipes or put more pipes, you lower the backpressure which causes a loss on low end.

i'm new here and like this page

yo, i have a 98 xlt extended cab with a v6. the mods are mac intake, dual gibson exhaust, super chip, and jba headers. well, i didnt know that dual exhaust is bad for low end but i can say that i have never lost a race with anyone and i'm not bulls#@$in. ive raced everything from rice burners to chevy v8s. when i fisrt got my truck i was thinkin i made a mistake by bying a v6 but after putting all that stuff on it man i just smoke anything. i burned two rice burners on the 15 going to temecula in cali. they were'nt racing me they were racing each other but i got them to race me when i pulled next to them and stayed with them and they noticed i was in the next lane looking at them and giving them a stupid look like i was observing them race. both cars looked like they were hooked up with fart cans ( like that other guy said ). well, i played with them for a while and dropped it to fourth gear and just left them. i gotta admit for some reason my truck sounds like a rice burner and i dont know why, it could be my exhaust, they are 2 1/2 out the back of each wheel but hey i still burn people. i just ordered a 75 shot of n.o.s. power pulleys, throttle body and my favorite, a supercharger. yes, you heard right i just found one on the internet and dont ask me how much it costed me because its ridiculous. after all those mods id like to met that smart guy thats been knocking other peoples sweet trucks on this subject. hey guys i thought i was the only guy on earth that raced with a 4.2 but all these stories are awesome and now i know that f1's are that s#@$, screw whoever said ford didnt make good trucks.

Errrr, correct me if im wrong but the 5.3L v8 that chevy makes is 285 hp. Its small v8 produces 265-275 hp. The chevies also come with 3.73's and weigh about the same is a f150.

If youve got a ext cab with the v6 you weigh 4300-4400 which is maybe 1 - 2 hundred pounds less than the chevy with the v8 but hes got better gearing and hes got mucho more hp. You might have 240 flywheel hp. 285 vs 240.....hmmmm

I could be completely wrong on this but I dont think youve been racing the right things if you havent been beat yet!!!

If talley comes along he can set me straight though!!

freddone...

OoK! Suuuuree!.

Sixbanger,

I beat 4.8 stock/mildy mild modded 4.8's. reg cab or extended. there have been some nicely modded reg cab 4.8's that put a good hurting on me.

Those damn 5.3's... I HATE them, they are GOOD. I haven't been next to one in a while tho... which would be interesting now that I'm in the Mid part of 15's.

Only 5.3's I seem to overpower is those Crew cab 5.3's.

It wasn't on the tree... I could see in his cab enough to see that. Might have been a 4. Wasn't a tired V-8 either... sounded pretty mean... I'll give the guy that much. Kept up with me for about a second. Then it was bye!

Beat an s10.

Kid (call him a kid mighta been my age but he was acting immature) was riding peoples bumpers and being a jerk all around through town. Got to a long straight section of road (two lanes one for each direction) I heard his little 4cyl windup with his silly exhaust tip and modified exhaust so i hit it too, followed him around the car in front of us(straining not to rear end the lil s10) stayed in the left lane and went on by him fairly easily. I think the 4's only have 120 hp in the s10.....so no big deal. He had also skipped me at a previous 4way.....so i needed to get back in front where i belonged
