what are my chances?

i am wondering how a 01 Monte SS will do against my 4.2 5-speed. The monte is a pretty quick car.

Hmmm.
I've only raced 2 of those ever. One was a blubbering snail, and the other was fairly fast. I say get in his face and talk a bunch of smack and then give him all you got.
. . .Just don't put any money on the race.

Later,
I'd race him but I'm pretty sure you will lose. The Monte Carlo SS has 3.8 with 200HP, they are a hell of a lot lighter than our trucks and have almost the same power. With the mods you have I really doubt it will be enough to beat him. But hey good luck! Let us know how it turns out.
Just one question, why did you get the Gibson's SuperTruck exhaust if your looking to race people? That is the worst of their systems you can put on the 4.2 performance wise. Not trying to bad mouth or anything, just seeing if you are trying to get the most performance out of your truck.
'99 auto. 4.2L F-150
-Volant intake
-Poweraid TB spacer
-Taylor high performance spark plug wires
-Diablo 4 bank chip
-Gibson single swept side exhaust

thier curb weight is right around 3,500lbs full of all fluids minus a person. you add a 200lbs man and the weight is 3,700lbs.
my weight WITH me in it is 4,000 even with a full tank. 3,890 w/ 1/4 tank.
He has 200HP, with an automatic i would assume. I have 252BHP with a 5-speed.
I would win!!!
I think in your case he will pull ahead 2-4 lengths.

Talley,
you sure are quick to say that i have modded enough......seriously though, the monte is an automatic so i would guess that i could get a jump on the launch from dead stop. If we were racing from a rolling start, the monte would have all the advantages.
what if i added a chip to my truck and started running super unleaded? enough gain? i am a cheapskate at the gas pump.

With your mods you are between 16.4 - 16.6 in the 1/4, and this is with average shifting ability. A chip in my case dropped my times by .4 to say the least. after a chip and decent shifting you should be low 16's, flat 16.0... if your lucky into a 15.9xx but you would have to be a good at shifting.
