207HP 240LB's 87 Octane or 91 Octane?
Hi guys,
I have a question I drive a 2002 Black Ranger Edge 4x4, with 207HP and 240LB's of torque I have been wanting to know if I should be running 91 octane or the basic 87 octane? I noticed with the 91 it is really powerfull off the line and basically all around power is good. With the 87 it's just normal, I don't have much experiance with Octane levels so I'm asking you guys what do you think is the best way to go?
Also it's a 4.0L if that helps at all...

my best guess
I think your truck is programmed to run on the regular 87 octain. However, the computers in these newer trucks do have adaptive strategy so they can make use of the higher octane levels, but the increases in power are no where near what a superchip would give ya.Basically, its up to you if you want to run the 91 octane. If you can justify the added performance for paying more at the pump.A good place to post this Question would be down in the computer chips forum, Mike Troyer(the superchips distibutor) can tell you a whole lot more about the octane and your computers adaptive strategy.Hope this helps some
