I am stationed in NC right now. If I have to move to California, will I have any problems with a superchip and the changes in elevation/ octane changes/ trailer weight????? I do not want to get one if every time I try to go in the mountains I lose power. Please help me!

You should have no problems with your superchip in California. Many of us out here run the chip and are very happy with it. You can only get 91 octane out here, but that does not seem to be an issue.

Thanks forr the input. I was jusst worried about elevation changes and all, but so far everyone I talk to says I will be good, so I guess on payday I will give them a call!

just a thought. but what about all the smog laws out there. does the chip change the emissions or does it have an approved "carb" number on it. if it does then its legal if it doesnt then it not sure if its legal of not.
carc cercitfied doesnt really mean anything. i think they passed inspections, but the thing is, do you think they will really open up your passenger door and look above the kick panel to look for a teal colored piece of metal. if in doubt, just take the thing off, only takes a few seconds. oh yeah, the chip is awesome, get it. it is worth it. i just liked the ability to raise my rpm rev limiter and my top speed, the power is nice too.

The chip is awesome! Works great in CA. Of course, with our low energy content fuel, you may have a little less HP than you do in NC.
I believe that the theory is that as altitude increases, your engine actually requires less octane to avoid pinging. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
FWIW, I had to fill up with 89 octane once and got some minor pinging under full throttle/low rpm/high load. Never a problem with 91 octane.
