Question Rear end gears on a 1999 F-150?

I'm trying to get new rear gears for my 1999 F-150 XL V6 4.2L but I'd like to know what size gears I have right now. So does anybody know what comes stock on this type of truck? Like everyone else I'm trying to get as much horsepower out of my truck as possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cool boot-

First of all--WELCOME !! Your axle "code" can be found on the sticker on your driver's side door jamb. The "actual" ratio can be found on a tag under one of your rear end cover bolts. The "code" can be searched out here or posted for an answer.

rear axle code?

Thanks Max Mitchell and everyone else, but I'm slow when it comes to some vehicle terms. I found the sticker on my door jab but and under the word axle there was the number 18, and under the letter "R" which i guess stands for rear there was the number 9. Do you know what those numbers mean?

I looked under the rear end and there was a tab and I believe that the gears are 3.08 but there was no peroid between the numbers. It probably doesn't matter but I wanted to run it through the message board first. Also I ran my VIN number and there was no information on rear end gears. Is that normal or what?

thanks for any help.[list][*]1999 Ford F-150 Supercab XL[*]V6 4.2L [*]Airraid intake /Dynomax SuperTurbo Exhaust
