Engine Stumbled And Almost Died
 

2007 F150, 4.2 V6, 152K miles
While waiting at the drive thru window of CVS yesterday, transmission in park, my engine dropped in RPM's, stumbled like it was going to die, then came back to a normal idle. This is the first time it has ever done this. I have owned it since new (6 miles) and am very anal about PM on it.
The outside temperature was 93* with a real feel of 102*. I just recently replaced my fuel filter about 3 months ago, always buy my gas from the same SHELL gas station, new plugs and wires at 114K miles, and a new cam synchronizer about 6 months ago.
I hope it was just a one time thing and won't happen again, or lead to bigger problems. Anyone else ever have this happen to them before? I'm thinking the IAC might be getting ready to go bad.

You might have been getting a phenomenon when the fuel gets heated up it starts vaporizing in the lines causing a vapor lock type of event. Especially if the fuel is cold.

I've had this happen to me before on all my vehicles when it's super hot out. It's rare, but it does happen.

Or you could've had air in your fuel -- rarer, but you never know.

You don't have an IAC, you have an electronic throttle.

To the OP, I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck. ;)

That diagram is for a 1999 Chrysler 300M. You have an electronic throttle and it does not have an IAC. None of the answers in that thread apply to a 2007 Ford.

Why do all of the parts stores sell an IAC for the 07 4.2 V6? Don't you think SOMEONE should tell them there is no IAC on this engine? :confused:

Open your hood, pull the doghouse and intake tube, and see if you can find it............

This is just 2 of MANY auto parts stores that sell the IAC for a 2007 Ford F150, 4.2 V6. GLC, maybe YOU should call all of the parts stores and tell them my engine has no such animal.
If YOU say it's not on my engine, so be it. But, I hope that no one ever tries to buy one for their 07 4.2 V6.
UNLESS, YOU call every parts store and tell them there is no such part for this engine.................. :rolleyes:

I'm serious - open up your hood and try to find it! If you find one in there, then I will stand corrected. I just don't see the need for one when you have an electronic throttle body, the V8's did away with the IAC in 2004 when they went to electronic throttle.
