04-08 4.2 V6 TB Cleaning
 

Those of you with the 04-08 4.2 V6, has anyone cleaned their Throttle Body (TB)? If so, did you remove it, or clean it while on the engine? Being the butterfly is operated by a servo motor/gear, I know it's not recommended to manually open the butterfly. So, tell me, what was your procedure to open the butterfly when you cleaned your TB?

From what I've been told is not to touch the plate in terms of trying to open or close it.

However it does open and close if you put the truck in run, but not start it. Get a pole or something and wedge it on the gas pedal and it will open it up. Or have a helper lay on the gas pedal.

Just take your time cleaning it with an old toothbrush and avoid knocking into the plate.

I've inspected mine, and it's pretty clean, so I just leave it alone.

I don't know but I think if you disconnect the power to the throttle body, you can open it without hurting anything.
