Exclamation Ecoboost Vibration at Speed

Howdy everyone,

I have a 2014 FX2 Ecoboost with approximately 116,000 on it. Within the past 2,000 miles my truck has developed a very noticeable vibration/humming when traveling 55+ mph. Ive had the tires rotated and rebalanced and that had no effect on the vibration. I can "feel" it in the gas pedal. It seems to be when I'm cruising between 1,400 and 1,900 rpm's. Anyone know what this could possibly be?

I don't think that would be from the engine.

Sounds more like a drive line vibration.

Check your brakes to see if they aren't rubbing.

I had both front and rear brakes checked and they were dialed in. Could it be U-Joint or Drive Shaft? If it is idk why it would all of a sudden start after it being great for so many miles.

Does it still vibrate if you manually downshift one gear maintaining the same speed? If not, it's engine related.

Yes, I just tried it. When I got to about 60mph it started vibrating. From there I downshifted from 6 to 5 and back up a few times. The vibration remained constant, the shifting had no effect on it.

When it starts doing it, shift to neutral to isolate the engine from rest of the drive line. Then rev the engine in neutral to see if the vibration is proportional to engine speed. That will let you know where to start looking.

Okay I did that, vibration remains whether in neutral or drive

Have your tires checked carefully for out of round, and get them road force balanced.

rear ujoint is probably the culprit, have a good listen when you put it in reverse do you hear a small click in the rear, i am currently with the same issue and weve pinpointed it to the rear ujoints

We finally figured it out, it was the front wheel bearings on both sides! Thanks for the help
