2001 4.2 p0302, 303, & 304
First off I have been a long time lurker and this site has helped me keep my truck going. I have a problem now that I can't seem to find through search. My truck has been running fine and the other day when I started it it was not healthy. It gave me codes for misfire on cylinders 2, 3, and 4. Pretty much all the threads I could find for multiple misfires involve P0300. My plugs and wires only have about 20,000 on them. Since I have half my cylinders misfiring all of a sudden would the coil make sense? Half of it died maybe?

Thank you for the replies. I have always used Motorcraft plugs and wires on the truck. It has a healthy 225,000 on it and has always been well maintained. I think I am going to get a coil since they aren't too much and go from there. There were no signs of trouble at all before it happened and to me it seems it shouldn't be too difficult since basically half the engine is acting up instead of random misfires and like I said just happened all at once. I also don't want to just start throwing money around grasping at straws.
Thank you again.

Just wanted to follow up on this. I put in a new coil and right away noticed a difference. I also put some fuel system cleaner in just before too. It keeps running better so I'm going to put on a new filter even though it wasn't changed too long ago and run another tank with some more cleaner and see how it goes.
