3.7 V6 fuel mileage

I looked thru a bunch of the posts here and there's almost nothing on the 3.7 V6. So here ya go. How about fuel mileage. What kind of real world fuel mileage are you getting with this engine? How about issues with the engine. I've found zero on the net in regards to anybody having any troubles at all. Surely this engine can't really be this good. How about overall driving experience? I had one guy claim it was a better drive than a 4.6.

I've wondered the same. Seems like a great engine...haven't read a single issues. It's funny, at the dealer they have numerous stx sport package trucks with it.

The tire test company here has 4 or 5 of them in a XL truck.. So far they have been great with no engine problems at all.. They are closing in on 200k.

They have a 97 crown vic that i have always kept tabs on and last month it rolled over 1.4 million miles Only thing original on the car is the 4.6

It's the most underrated engine Ford offers. We don't see any in our shop except for oil changes. I had a 2011 Crew cab (wish I still had it) and it easily got 21 mpg on the highway. I bet a regular cab XL truck could get 23 mpg. They are great engines if you don't haul or tow anything very heavy.

There is a big thread about it in the 2009-2014 section. I haven't read anything bad about them. From what I understand it's just a different version of the Duratec series which have been pretty good motors.
