Does anyone know what these peices are inside the tubes of the ecoboost intake? Are they silencers or something?

 

if i was a betting man, id say they are tumblers to get the air rolling before the turbos... idk, im new to stuff like this.

 

What part of the intake did these pieces from from? The air cleaner tube?

 

Anybody remember the "Tornado?" hmmmm...

I doubt its used to tumble air because the tube squares off right before turbos, I put new CAI on so when i seen those in there i just took them out. I put back in and didnt seem any difference in the sound through air filters. Just wondering what they are for, Ford had a reason im sure =-)

 

I would have thought that maybe it was to keep the turbo whistle down. I like the whistle though.

 

Where exactly were these located ? I haven't seen anything like that in mine.

 

Its raining here now or i would post pics but from where the air filter tube y's into two seperate pipe, right inside each pipe that goes to turbos.

 

I guess the passenger side of the engine gets the larger one and the driver side gets the smaller?

I have no clue as to their presence, I'm pretty far away from being an Automotive engineer.

 

Any possibility of some picture showing where these are located?
Also, isn't there two smaller tubes on this truck since it has two turbos? Would make me think there would be two of those little ones in there.

 

Here are some pics of them in with upper intake off. I put them back in to see if they are for silencing anything.
