Talking Straight pipes on a V6

Well right now i have a Flowmaster series 40 Exhaust on my V6, I've got kinda used to it now and am wanting something a little louder.. So my question is do any of you guys have straight pipes on your 4.2L V6's. How does it sound? (Hopefully not ricey or too high pitched).

thanks

Since we have basicaly the same truck my guess is that no mufflers would sound somewhat like my origional glass pack exhaust, like a pissed off bumble bee. Besides, in Texas it is suppose to be illegal to run an exhaust without mufflers. And I do know that there are quite a few people that do run without mufflers but go ask your local police department and they will tell you.

Hey JD i have a V6 with no Muffler and I love it. I wanted louder to and tryed every muffler I could find.Nothing made me happy until I wacked the muffler off and ran a single straight pipe.

Tanman,
Does it sound high pitched? Causeof tha deep tone is one reasons that i knida like my flowmaster series 40, its just that i still want it louder. Is it very deep in tone? Do you have any audio clips of it? i would love to hear it........ i just want my exhaust to be alot louder and deeper in tone.

thnaks

oh, and what type of setup is yours?? i think i would have an x-pipe put on to replace the factory y-pipe and just leave straight pipes from there back. or would it be better if i got the x-pipe and had a glasspaack added to each side. would that help to deepin the tone some????????

PLEASE POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JD It is difintaly louder than a flowmaster that is what i had on my truck before. I do not have a audio clip (really don't know how). I did not touch the Y-pipe just ran one piece of 3 in pipe and curve it around the axle and out the side with a gibson tip. I know you hear more backpressure now i don't know if this good or bad? It is really up to you what you want. Hope this helps and if you need anything else let me know.

here is my input...i had my exhaust going through a single in dual out dynomax racing and then dumped out ....not the best of sound...i true dueled it upgraded pipe from cats to 2 3/4 and have 2 long bullets with 3inch tips out the back...sounds great ...pretty loud too.....and it is super loud when you step on it...sounds like a race car....it will set off car alarms ....( i was so excited when i got it put on that is what i did)..hope this helps

Straight Pipes

I have a v6 3.7 i did dual straight pipes form the cats, it was loud as ****. Not deep in tone so much. Then i switched to resontors sounded poppy. Then i recently had 24 dual glasspacks installed its deeper even louder then the resontors

I give him credit for using the search function. But straight pipes on pretty much anything sound like ***.
