Supercrew Ecoboost Towing Mileage

I bought a XLT Ecoboost Supercrew HD Payload/Max Tow Pkg.

Can anyone give some true figures on gas mileage towing in the mountains of Colorado. I will be towing a 4000 lbs travel trailer.

Thanks

Sorry, had to remove the second thread. Only one thread is allowed per subject. Reduces a lot of confusion. If you want this thread moved to the other forum, just PM me, but I think you will get the most hits in this forum.

I understand. Hopefully, you will get the info you seek, shortly. You might review some of the other threads in this same forum, I know there have been a couple that discussed towing mileage.

I tow around 8000 lb camper and I was getting around 11 in the hills of north Idaho.

I would say 10-12 seems to be pretty standard for my lead foot.

I average 10.6 mpg while towing my 33' 7500lb travel trailer through the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Green mountains in Vermont with the cruise set at 62mph. So you should do better than that. I'm betting around 12.0-12.5mpg.

Aye the Pyco boost is laggy and lacks torque on standard non boost applications.

The MPG can reduce just pulling hills light.

I've got the FX4 No Bailout Edition SCrew ECO with 4.11 and Max Tow with 6.5' bed and towing my 6000 lb trailer from Denver up to South Park I got between 11 and 12 up and back.

I towed my 74 Bronco from Denver to Buena Vista and back with around 1000 miles on the clock and got around 10. Only negative thing is the miles to E will lie to you. We were pulling back into town and coming down Turkey Creek canyon it said 50 miles to E. When we hit C-470 it changed to 20 miles to E and we had 25 miles to go. Tried to run the whole trip on one tank but had to stop and fill it up. I put in 24 gals for an average mpg of 10.3.

I get 10-12 pulling My 24' crownline boat. But I only pull it once a week in the summer. 16-22 unloaded.

I have experience now. I towed my 4000 lb Travel Trailer with my new Ecoboost and I got 15.9 in the mountains of Georgia. On the flats I got up to 20 mpg. Not bad for a new engine. I did drive it 1000 miles like you are suppose to for break in before towing, and I did tow 500 miles going 65 or under and that's the mileage I got, YEAH I'll keep it.
I love my first truck.

Dog lady - did you reset you're mpg counter before you began that trip ? That mpg sounds kinda high IMO for pulling anything with the EB. I get around 10-12 mpg pulling my 800 xp ranger @ 75 mph on the interstate.

Over 1500 miles this summer towing my 8K tt around Colorado. I average 9.0 mpg.

merlin66043 07-12-2012 03:51 PM

From Kansas City to Breckenridge, CO averaged about 6.5 to 7.5. But that was fighting strong winds both going there and coming home. And doing the speed limit which got to 75 a lot of the way. Coming home winds were prob about 15 to 20 miles per hour hitting us on the side. Trailer was a 26ft that prob weighs about 6000 lbs loaded with our stuff.
