just bought a 98 f150 with the 4.2 with a 5 speed. i just have a few questions i know about the gasket issue my trucks build date is 7/98 which i was told is after the gasket issue was fixed just trying to confirm this and if anyone could show me a website where i can see the vin number codes to see what my truck has. like my last truck had the romeo engine thanks for the help!!

 

It's not the truck build date that matters - it's the engine build date. That's on a sticker on the driver's side valve cover.

If the engine build date is after 1/15/98 then you have the updated gaskets.

 

My '99 4.2 has a truck build date of 9/98 and an engine build date of 2/18/98
