hard starting when cold
im having problems with my 4.2 l again i cant seem to figure out why it spits and sputters when i first try to start it when its cold it wont do it when its warmed up ive replaced the fuel filter dumped injector cleaner in the gas had the o2 sensors replaced changed the spark plugs changed the spark plug wires changed the crank position sensor the dfpe sensor cam position sensor and water temp sensor every sensor on its just about new so if anyone has any suggestions or ran into problems with this please email me and give me some idea whats wrong with it any info will be very much appreciated

I've got the exact same problem. Before 9 o'clock in the morning my '97 F150 with 4.2L V-6 will have a lot of trouble starting. But any time after 9 it is fine. Sorry, I have no idea what the problem is or what can be done.

I have the exact same problem.I have talked to a service tech I know at ford and he is doing some research on the subject for me.I will post results if I find anything.

Yea me too. Even in the middle of summer. After starting and a short driving distance the rpms just drop and the engine nearly dies or does. This is only after it has been sitting for a day. Other than that it is running great.:confused:
