True, I have only ever seen one in my lifetime (v8 manual) and it was in the scrap yard due to rust.

If I remember right it was an extended cab 98.

WHY are you using 70W80 gear lube in a transmission built for ATF??????

The correct Redline product for a M5OD is D4 ATF.

I see forums about how bad the 4.2 v-6 and the 5-speed transmission in the F-150. I don't know where they are getting that information unless it is coming from owners of other brands I have a 1999 F-150 2wd regular cab step-side with the 4.2 v-6 and the 5-speed manual transmission. I got the truck as a gift back in 2002 it had 99,000 miles on it when i got it 13 years later it now has 435,000 miles on it still going strong no oil or smoke problems transmission still tight no grinds and still running factory clutch. It was a little sluggish on the interstate when I first got the truck but that was a very easy fix by doing away with the 8.8 high geared rear-end that can in the truck. I replaced it with the 9.75 rear-end with disc breaks from a F-150 with the 5.4 V-8 with 3:73 gear limited slip. It is a easy swap no modifications required and I upgraded the exhaust doing away with the 4 catalytic converters that Ford used with 2 high flow catalytic converters the truck now runs very strong. It also no has 4" of suspension lift and a 3" body lift with LT315/75R16 Mud Grappler Extreme due to the places I need for the truck to go and it pulls it's self down the highway with ease. I use the truck for work which I travel all over the U.S. and pull a old 33 foot camper and when home I use the truck on the farm and log with the truck actually hauling my 525th load of logs to market tomorrow 47 miles one way on the back roads of eastern Kentucky and if you know anything about eastern Kentucky the roads are not flat by no means and curvy as can be. Every load of logs are pulled on a 16' foot tandem axle trailer with no breaks 10 to 16 foot white oak logs 12 to 16 logs per load no problem. So you tell me if the 4.2 V-6 and the 5-speed transmission in the F-150's is worth having I will never part with the truck.

Nice loads you got there. I've pulled some stuff and hauled some stuff a F350 would cringe at. Did the truck like it? No. But it got the job done and it didn't break. And it wasn't a speed demon.

My 2005 F150 with regular cab and v6, auto and 3.55 rear end has 260,000 miles on it, I had problems with brakes early on, but all fixed under warranty. No engine issues ever. I did have to do O2 sensors though a while back

I'm convinced the gas mileage is not much better than a 4.6 would have gotten, and if I had to do it all over again, I probably would have gotten a 4.6, buy it's been a good truck, im about to order a 2015 with a 5.0

Before you order a 5.0, have you test driven a base 3.5 non-EB V6? The new 2.7 EB is quite impressive too.
