Ecoboost Reliability

I really want one, but I just saw the new Ford offer. 100k or 5 year extended service agreement BUT in small print it says not available on the Ecoboost or Raptor. Now, the very right side of the printing was cut off, but I believe this is right. Does Ford NOT believe it's a good bet to cover the Ecoboost?? Comments?

I could see the raptor, maybe its cause the turbo isn't rated beyond that?

So you cant get a ESP on the Ecoboost? That doesn't seem right.

I've already negotiated the ESP for the truck we have on order....F150/EB/Supercab.... 7 year/100K $0 deductible. That was on the day we ordered the truck (18 Jan)....hopefully that negotiation is still valid.

We just got a build date on our order of 14 Feb. I'm also suppose to go into the dealership tomorrow, so that's something I'll have to ask about!

More on Ecoboost Reliability

I talked to the dealer this afternoon. He hadn't heard anything about a "not available on the Raptor and Ecoboost" clause on the ESP. He called the Ford Rep for the dealership who also said she had not heard that. She checked her sources. The dealer called me back and said the Ecoboost WAS covered as far as he was able to find out. Hmmmmmm. Somebody at Ford had to approve that ad copy. I wish someone would put out a statement acknowledging it was a goof, if it was.

I bet there will be a separate "ecoboost" plan... just like with turbo diesels... anything turbo nowadays.

I just bought a 4x4 supercab XLT ecoboost Wednesday and the finance guy tried to sell me the extended warranty. So I'm guessing they're available.

It is the dealer's responsibility to know the products that they are selling. Not just the cars, but also the accessories, warranties, and financing. If they sell you a warranty, they have to honor it. Don't worry. You can always sue them later.

This is interesting, but I seriously doubt it's true. I'll ask the folks in the back tomorrow if I can remember. Wow the more I think about it though I just can't even begin to think they wouldn't offer an ESP on Ecoboost. Now the raptor.... maybe. But that's an SVT... totally different.

Hey Ed, Did it cost you extra to Order your Truck Versus picking one off the Lot ??

I had to get Rid of my 2005 XLT 4x2, because it does not do good in the snow here in Alaska.

Looking forward to Buying a new 2011 or a left over 2010 shortly and was just Curious.

thanks

I filled out a quote request online and it asked about Turbos. It shows factory are covered in the PremiumCare Brochure..

Warranty

Thanks for the info coreground. 5A clearly states factory installed turbocharges/superchargers are covered. Would be interesting to know how much more the ESP is on the ecoboost, as I suspect it will be more than the vehicles with naturally aspirated engines.

It's a little harder to negotiate on this kind of order because you are getting exactly what you want, and dealers know how much demand there is for the EB's, especially with oil prices going up daily. I didn't have much luck with Kendall or Cal, so I ended up getting my new Screw EB from an outfit in Washington called Ford of Kirkland. Trucks aren't as popular in Washington right now as they are in Alaska, so they were a bit more eager to negotiate. Also, unlike Cal or Kendall, they order their EB's in *all* trims, not just the Lariats and Platinums like Alaskan dealers. I'm not sure if it's still there, but they had a gunmetal grey XLT EB on the lot when I was signing the papers on mine this past Monday, and my sales guy mentioned there were more on the way. All said and done, I paid 70 bucks over invoice before rebates and incentives, which was a far better deal either of the local dealers offered me. YMMV depending on how good a negotiator you are. Good luck.
