Just turning over 170,000km. of hard, fast driving on my 97 reg cab 4x2 and no problems but a fan belt(knock on wood). Keep it well maintained and slowing the speed down now for economic reasons. Gas is 82.9 a liter.

I have a 1999 4.2 with 5 spd and 3.55's. I just Turned 61,000 miles with only routine maintenance. Put on the Airaid Intake and the Throttle Body Spacer at 57,000 and with I had Put it on earlier. I want to try headers, and the chip. By the way, I have never heard another Air Intake on one of these trucks, I have a very Distinct High Pitched "Sucking Sound" when about 1/4 into the Throttle, then I sounds like and old Holly 4bbl opening up. Is that Normal. Power is Good and No Air leaks that I can See. Any info would be appreciated.

my 99 has 51,000 as of July of '97. Nothing but dirt roads and small town driving. A few out of town trips.

4.2 miles

I have had mine since it was a demo. It had 4600 miles on it when I got it. I had a new transmission around 26,000 on it and has been relatively trouble free since then. It now has 49,000 on it.

My 97 F150 is one of the 50 complaints in "nhsta" for engine failure at 60,000 miles. It is currently sitting at ford waiting for a new engine. my concern is a few people who have replaced their engines have had the replacement blow. Ford is working with me. Its only costing a 1600.00 instead of the 5000.00 they origannally wanted.
