It sounds like some of you have a bad case of "I spent too much money on my V8" syndrome and you are losing your minds because of it. Facts are Facts, a V6 revs quicker and higher than a V8. The 4.2 just happens to be putting out enough power to rev quicker than your 5.4's with powertrain and all. So for all you 5.4 guys, just face it, you got had. The 5.4 is nowhere near the motor the 351 was. Bring back the Windsor, and I'll buy another Ford V8. Until then my 4.2 is da king!

Hey bigredflareside chevy has diesal 6.6 durmax diesal 300hp and 500lbs feet of torque. Not bad for the chevys guys well see how it holds up. Like I said to eveyone I am not trying to say my v8 engine is better than v6. It is more powerful and has more ***** than v6. If you disagree with that then you are not to smart. I didn't try to bash v6 but when my v8 was being bashed I had to retaliate. I will apologize Because We are all Ford guys and should stick together. Enough of this nonsense. A Ford is a Ford and is the best no matter what engine.

BigRedFlareside,

Agreed, the 4.2 is a very capable engine. It is only 15 hp and 40 lbs/ft short of the 4.6L. Key word is short. Put in a chip and you are almost there. I also enjoy the look on the face of my victims when they get beat. I guess one's choice of engine is like choice of color, according to taste, so be it. Enjoy your truck.

Kindest regards

Jean Marc Chartier

PS. What about the Slant 6 ?

Well, the best time I ever pulled off with my truck was a 15.5 1/4 mile. What type of times are you 4.2 boys doing????

BTW... I love this cracksmoker dhouck, The first guy in history who can tow more with a 4.2 5spd, than a 5.4 liter auto. Fact not Fiction. Dhouck forgot too mention that his truck was being towed by an f250 dually while attempting to pull more than the 5.4.

superfreak,

You should come to one of our Texas Chapter meetings. Plenty of 5.4, 4.6's, and 4.2's.

Still owned a 4.2 for two years, so I still know the truth. But hey, it's such a cute lil engine. 260 hp, to 205....(scratchin head) that must say something.

damn this thread blew up!

I stated waaaaaay back in the beginning that a MODDED V6 could beat a stock 5.4 and somehow the stats changed hehe.

don't really care what anyone thinks about the 4.2, all I know/care is I am a happy camper with this truck! I love it I love it I love it!!

and so what if I beat a 5.4? Does that mean I gotta better engine? NO! Does that mean get your feathers all ruffled? NO!!

Big Deal! We got the greatest trucks in the world!

JMC: I had a slant 6 in my first car. A 1971 Plymouth Duster. Tried and tried to blow that thing up but couldn't. Car was slow as could be but was a very dependable car with over 240,000 miles on it!

Just a few quick comments. All members bring something to the table. This bashing is counter-productive. I don't have a V6 and don't read here daily but, the high post-count caught my eye.
I guess I'm glad the Lightning Boys pretty much stay in their own forum and don't go around putting the non-supercharged V8's 'in their place'. Maybe the V8's should learn something from that. The V6 forum (I assume) is for V6's. If I argue with someone here about an engine I don't even own, who knows, I might be able to run them off in disgust. Other than engine, our trucks are the same. That resource would be gone and how have I helped myself? Maybe, if I try hard enough I can eventually find a way to **** off 11,000 members then, nobody would argue with me.

(naw, Steve would get me first)

I do agree with you on that dhouck. There are some bad ones and the 99 5.4L was one of them plagued by the piston slap and head gaskets.
