DaveH I have seperated fact from fiction. As I said before been there done that.Had both motors. I beat the 5.4 with my 4.2 more than once.Fact. only mods are dual exhausts.

 

Hey lightningcrashes, I never said a 4.2L couldn't beat the 5.4L in expedition. I believe it could say a 4.2L reg cab because it is a lot lighter. The expeditions are very heavy. My 5.4L has a gvwr 6300 so its not light either but has plenty of *****. I just don't like people bashing 5.4L. I never bash the 4.2L until im bashed. Power doesn't mean a engine is better. Like dhock keeps saying that the 5.4L is crap. Now that is way out of line. Now I know I got out of line on some of these posts in here and appologize. I just have to defend the 5.4L. All i have been trying to say is the 5.4L stock will beat any stock 4.2L by experience. Most people would agree with that. But some of the v6s guys love there engines and don't want people making 4.2L powerless. It is a good base engine. But most people will tell you if they wanted a lot more powerful engine they would of opted for 5.4L instead got 4.2L for price, better fuel economy(some say they get same as 5.4L though), and also they don't need the power of v8. Just my thoughts.

DaveH maybe i used the wrong fraze when i said the 5.4 was junk. It is not a bad motor,But it is not any better than the 4.2 The 5.4 can and has been beaten by the 4.2 I have personaly done it.I had both. Chose the 4.2 on this truck because It has better power. Not because it was cheaper. Price did not matter.

 

dhouck I don't see where the better power is. Maybe i am blind.

Hey DAVEH, if you dyno 190 and we dyno 160 then you lost 80 hp and we lost 50. You still think we lost this value game?

 

It was dynoed at like 220 you fool bill bateman and almost 300lbs feet of torque. your 4.2L would probaly be dynoed at 160 like I said so don't know where you got the 190. I guess some of u guys just dream up some you information and say "Hey im going to post this and there going to buy it" Come on you are not welcome in this post. As you haven't said one piece of information making sense.

Hey bill how come no acknologes your replys?? The reason is you start by showing some dyno results from some 3rd world country in which I never heard of and then you keep babaloying about you lossed 1/3 hp in powertrain. Maybe tommorow you will wake up and see reality. And Dhouck you had both so you know. I believe you never had 5.4L and wished you did, and are just trying to make yourself look better by putting 5.4L down over the 4.2L engine. I aint going to repeat myself anymore.

How much faster would you say a 5spd is over an auto?

How much lighter is a 2wd XL reg cab SWB 4.2L than a loaded 5.4L SC 4x4?

Is it to the tune of 300#? 500#? 800#?

How much slower would 800lbs. make a truck?

Isn't 800lbs. the equivalent of about 5 people?

Do 4x4 tires do as good a job on pavement in terms of 0-60/.25 mi.?

How much does a stock engine "wake up" with just simple engine mods?

Are we really comparing apples and oranges here?

daveh, my 4.2 ltr, is whooping up on all my friends v-8s, they are getting pissed, ive even beaten a chevy 350 , with the auto,. but anyways, the 4.6 ltr is one of the worst things ford has ever done, they shouldve stuck with the 302 it is a much better motor, and i have seen both in action, much to be desired with the 4.6. my 4.2 is not the fastest truck out there but it is pretty damn competitive when that guy in the expedition pulled up next to me and rolled down his window to say "damn, how in the hell?" the guy in the 4.6 flipped me off, so, if you want to call me a liar, come down here and i will prove to you that my 4.2 can spank some 4.6 ***

 

Maybe a 4.2L could beat a 4.6L but with mods. Stock for stock a 4.2L 5speed might beat a 4.6L auto. But a 4.6L 5speed will defentley beat a 4.2L 5 speed(both stock im talking about). Bill you said why did you buy a automatic. Let me think you can't tow crap with 5 speed like 3,000 lbs. With my auto setup I could tow 8,200lbs. The auto 4.2L can tow like 6,000lbs, the auto 4.6L tows 7,000 something.

DaveH Yes i did have both the 5.4 & the 4.2I do not need to try and make my self look good by lying. I towed a 16 foot trailer with a mini back hoe with the 5.4 did not do a very good job.Tow the same trailer and back hoe with the 4.2 does a much better job.FACT NOT FICTION. I raced a jeep with a V6 with my 5.4 got beaten by the V6 Jeep.The 5.4 is an ok engine. Fact not Fiction I have raced V8s with my 4.2 5 Speed and won

 

yeah you tow better with the 5 speed. That is hard to believe as if your towing over the rated amount on your truck which is like 2800 or something your transmission would blow eventually and defintley be running real hot. Yeah I believe that that tows better than 5.4L. You have to be the biggest hoaxes that I ever seen on any of these posts. You need serious help

DaveH I would say you need the help. I realy don't care if you believe what i say. Fact is I have done it.You just have a hard time believing simple facts.All i'm trying to say is that the 4.2 is a good motor. Just as good as the 5.4

 

Dhouck f you raced a jeep with v6 engine then he had the 4.0L which is another crap engine. 0-60 with that engine is like 11-12 seconds. You could find those stat at motortrend webstie. My stock 5.4L goes 0-60 in like high 7s to low 8s. Not physically possible you story teller. Why do you think there discontinueing that 4.0L because it is outdated and junk. Base engines are base because they are the engine with no power but better gas mileage. The larger engines are an option and therefor cost more and are way more powerful than a base. That is a fact and know one could say its fiction. You are fiction. My engine with transy cost 3,000 more than your junk 5speed. Who wants a 5speed when you can't tow crap. You would never have a chance against me. I live in CT come down here I will spank you. Wait you probaly don't even have a 4.2L. Your probaly one of those guys with the kias. Just another one of those guys looking to start confertation by posting absurd and fictional information.
