Frank S I don't want to say this but I expected that answer. Here is my reply The v6 has no guts and neither do the Drivers. If you did then you wouldn't be afraid to post it in Engine section where you will be laughed at by not only the 5.4L guys but the 4.6L guys who will also cream a stock 4.2L

This will be my last post on this Dave so enjoy. I really would like to continue this in the Engines section but out of respect for Steve and this site I will not. The truth is the truth so deal with it. Steve would probably throw the lock on it anyway.

http://www.totalperformancesolutions...<p>Check out these dyno numbers. Note that te 5.4 in a 4x4 stock doesn't get above 200hp.

Hey DAVEH, wanna talk about that big bad 5.4. All the performance part manufacturer's dyno results say it ain't so big and bad. Less than 200hp stock? And we bought the wrong truck?

.All motors are rated at what manufactuar rates them. When they are dynoed that is power to rearwheels and you loss hp through powertrain correct. a stock 4.2L dynoed would probaly make 160 or so of hp and maybe 200lbs feet of torque if lucky. So lets not play that game. I believe motor trend dyned and got 220hp to rearwheel and i think 290lbs feet of torque to rear wheel.

Hey superfreak come on now. You spanked a 4.6L and 5.4L thats such bull. You never even raced either. You made all this up. I guess some of the v6 guys will steep to low levels to prove a point. If anyone of you 4.2L live in CT and want to race lets set it up and Ill prove my point. Once you get spanked you will stop the nonsense

DaveH you said you like to seperate fact from fiction. Fact the 5.4 is a piece of junk.Fact I owned both. Fact my 4.2 will beat a 5.4 any day of the week.Fact I have raced against more than one 5.4 and beat it.Fact I raced againts dodge V8s and beat them.Fact the 4.2 is a much better motor.I did not buy it because it was cheaper.I bought it because it is a better motor.Fact

Cool

I want to start by saying I love my 4.2, I love the gas mileage and I love the fact that on any given day I can hang with or beat any stock 4.6. I have tested this on several occasions. Can I beat a 5.4....doubt it. Would I try...hell yeah.I have some horse-power in transit and I will be gunnin for the nearest 5.4. But as a side thought, shouldn't we be beating up the "other" guys instead of each other?

Hey 12vrep thanks for you post. A honest v6 guy. Like he said he has beaten 4.6L but stated could I beat 5.4L i doubt it. Now the v6 could beat the 4.6L .4L difference but 5.4L stock vs 4.2L stock no way. Dhouck you need to separte fact from fiction. My engine has 2 more cylinders, 260 hp to your 202, 350lbsft tq at 2500 to your 252 lbsft at 4800, and my engine is 1.2L larger. Also Sohc to your ohv engine which make mine more effienet and better breathing then your 4.2L ohv. Now I will state this again the 4.2L is a good engine but it does not have the capabilitys of a 5.4L stock. Im not talking modifications so don't mention them. Im talking stock for stock. Yes with mods of course you could beat 5.4L stock. Im not trying to start a war hear between v6 guys and me. I drive a 4.9L F-150. the engine is gutless however has ok accelartion and engine wont die 210,000 miles on orginal and still going. Its a 93.

I know I said that was it for me but I have got a few more things to say.

DaveH, So from what I understand (by what you say). A 4.2 can not and will not beat any truck(expedition included) with a 5.4. I am gonna have to disagree. Do you know how heavy an expedition is? A light 2wd 4.2 should be able to take one. My old truck (98 2wd reg cab 4.2 5spd 3.55ls) could beat my buddies 99 excab 4x4 off road 5.4 3.55ls. By the way the 98 4.2s had 210 hp. I do agree with you that your truck could beat us,you are a reg cab. There really are way to many variables to ever have a clear cut winner. If you comparre identically equipped trucks, one with the 5.4 and one with the 4.2, obviously the 5.4 will win everytime. When I had my 98 I wouldn't race a reg cab with the 5.4, because I knew I would lose.
Just for fun, here is one of my kills in my y2k 4x4 w/v6. I was at a stop light and got caught in the wrong lane(needed to make a turn 1/2 mile up the road).Sitting there beside me is a brand new toyota tundra 4x4 excab .Loaded to the hilt (top of the line) lookin all fancy. He saw me look over aat him and started revving that high tech v-8. I am like oh is that what you want.Revved mine back. The light turned green and we were off. Keep in mind I have to make this turn out of the lane he is is.so its either beat him or lose and follow him. He took me off the line, untill my rpms got up.I grabbed 2nd gear and dropped the clutch at 3 grand. My tires let out this chirp and it was all down hill from there. I just barely got past him in time to change lanes and make my turn. He had this oh my god look on his face when I was slowly inching past him. Poor guy should have bought a ford. I just wish I could have told him that he just got beat by a v-6. That would have been too funny.
