V-6 Runs rough and misses
I have the 4.2L V-6 and it just started to run rough and miss. I've had a terrible squeal, like a loose or bad belt. I changed the belt and the squeal reduced, but did not go away. A friend said to spray WD40 on the pulley bearings. I haven't had the squeal in two weeks. As for the missing ,At first I thought it was systemic of the transmission going (since I've pulled a motorcycle trailer all over Michigan this last summer), but when I took it to a dealer, they said 499.89 please. Thats for a Cam Position Sensor, Syncronizer, and cleaning the fuel injectors. My questions are: Could this really be the problem? and I've read that you should flush the injectors, will this hurt them?

I had the same missing problem. I notice it more when the vehicle is cold and on hard acceleration. I took it the dealer and here is what they did.
1.Replaced the cam sensor.
2.Cleaned and power flushed the injectors.
3.Replaced Spark Plugs.
4.Replaced Air Filter.
5.Replaced one of the 4 O2 sensors.
After all this it ran great for about 3 days. Then it started all over again. I have had it to the dealer 8 times for this, and they wont fix it unless the check engine light comes on!! I am leasing the truck and if it goes back again, im going to try to get out of my lease. Il never buy a V-6 truck again !!!i hope this information helps you in the quest to get your truck fixed - good luck..
