Question Cat-Back Exhaust

This is probablly a stupid question but what is that difference between a cat-back exhaust and any other exhaust such as dual exhaust? And what would be best for my truck? I hear the ravin is good. But I like the look of the gibson super truck exhaust. Any help would be appreciated.

Cool

"Cat-Back" refers to a system that bolts on behind the catalytic convertors, and includes a muffler, intermediate pipe, and rear or side pipe. It generally comes in a kit specifically designed for each application, and includes mandrel bent pipe. Other systems would be fabricated on site at a muffler shop, and may or may not be mandrel bent or be properly engineered. The dual exhaust could be "true, separate pipe" or dual outlets after the muffler (your choice). There are people here with every system available to help. You might start by deciding what materials (aluminized or stainless), exit location, single or dual, desired sound, and tips. Check out some exhaust web-sites and members opinions and then you will have a better chance of finding what you like. Good Luck !

when i had my exhaust redone what i had the muffler shop do was. they cut off the stock muffler, kepp the y pipe on "which comes from the cats" they then put my flowmaster40 series single in dual out on.. then the guy bent 2 pipes that went over my axle and out the rear with 3.5 inch beveled chrome tips. it sounds great and helped tons. no loss in low end. i actually have better acceleration now and i also have better gas mileage.

hope this helps.
