Are V-6 worth a superchip?
The chip was not the first Mod that I had done to my truck, but I must say that it has the biggest effect on performance of any mod on my truck. So yes I would say that the chip was well worth the money I had spent. Especialy when I can go speeding down the freeway and blow past a shovie or a dod&e with a speed limiter.
Also I'm not a 2000 but will a 99 4.2 work??

YES! You definitely have to go with the Superchip as the first perfomance mod on your truck first!!! There is no second thought about it. I'm not saying don't do the FIPK, but make sure you get the chip first. And once you have both, you'll feel it very well. As for later mods such as an exhaust, if you have the money, do a gibson or borla catback set-up. That'll run you $300-$500. But I've heard the MagnaFlow? superturbo catback will get you good results as well at only ~$200. As Mike Troyer, the F150Online.com Superchips man
and another YES! Do the Superchip! Of all the mods, the Superchip made the single biggest improvement. Do all the mods and you'll be surprised. My truck is not the same truck I drove home from the dealer!
And you can do the intake/exhaust mods for a lot less. Intstead of a FIPK, you can buy the K&N element and do the airbox mod. Instead of catback system, you can buy just the muffler and do a home-made catback for under $90.

The superchip is the best mod I have made to my V6. I highly recomend it to anyone looking for a good performance upgrade.

My biggest expense concern with the superchip is not the cost of the chip itself, that can be purchased for less than $200 some places, but it's the cost of the required premium fuel at 20 cents a gallon more than regular.

The SuperChip is going to make you a happier V-6 owner. You'll experience good power right off the bottom. I was surprised at the responsiveness, in 5th gear, going up a steep grade that before required me to down-shift. I was strunk behind "sightseers" going about 40 in a 55 zone, I let off the throttle and then got back on it and walla, it picked up were it had left off. Before the Chip, letting off the throttle would have required a downshift. The exhaust report is livlier too! Billy 12 string

Hi Headless,
As you can see, the V-6 owners love their Superchips.
The Airaid kit works very well also, gaining about 8-10 hp peak at the flywheel. The Superchip gains 25 hp & 31 lbs./ft, of torque peak at the flywheel.
For those looking to really wake their V-6 up, both of those mods are very much worthwhile.

Hope so just placed a order for one. Sounds like just what I need.... Have put a free flowing muffler on. That sure helped the top end a lot didnt see a real loss on the lower end like some have said thay have. Think next will be some 4.10 gears,
Well I recived my chip today. Went in easy. And the only question I have is why the heck cant Ford do this from the Start.......
Just cleaning up the shifting was worth the price of the chip.

I think I'm going to go with Hypertech.
For some reason I don't follow the hype around here.....everyone says get a flowmaster and I go get a dynomax.
The superchip sounds great but after a superchipped truck died in front of me on a highway ramp was enough to scare me off.
