Stock HP In The 2000 V6 4.2L
I have been trying to find out what the stock horsepower of my 2000 F150 v6 4.2L single cab, automatic? And what would be the best way to go to add HP for the cost?

The top 3 bang-for-the-buck mods in these F-150's are:
1.) Optimize powertrain programming with the Superchip. 20-25 hp at the flywheel, depending on just how strong your particular V-6 is. It adds power across the entire rpm range, and at all throttle positions. the 4.2 V-6 is a bit weak below 2500 rpm, and the Superchip helps with that as well.
2.) Reduce restriction on the intake side, using an airbox elimination kit. 8-10 hp at the flywheel.
3.) Reduce restriction on the exhaust side, using a good cat-back exhaust system. Again, 8-10 hp at the flywheel, assuming you use a good name-brand cat-back exhaust system that has been properly flow engineered for this vehicle.

There are of course many thing you can do to these vehicles, depending on just what your priorities are; all-out acceleration, or just better all around performance, which is what most people are looking for.
