Smile 2003 Ford f150 4.2LV6- Tach add on

I am trying to add on an aftermarket sun tach that is made for standard ignition or distributorless ignition, of which I have distributor less ignition and can not find where to get the tach signal from, I have been told from 1 coil of the ignition, off of the crankshaft position sensor, but that seems to be a constant 12 VDC. i would appreciate any help on this. Thanks

Have you tried searching? This has been discussed many times before.

You want to tap into pin #48 for tach signal

I don't want to sound too stupid but pin 48 Where? I did do a search and possibly I didn't look back far enough, but all the subjects that came up were changing the gage cluster to one with a tach.

Thank you sooo much for your help

The #48 pin I think is located under the hood behind that black plastic cover on the firewall near the battery.

I apologize for taking sooo long to get back, i finally went to check out pin 48 and can not find it anywhere behind the battery, even the connector that goes thru the firewall on lft hand side of engine, behind battery there isn't even a pin in 48, this truck is very simple, manual windows/ac/locks. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
