help to locate these sensors

Hello first of all, I want to thank all forum members that make this a great place. Well these are my doubts, I have a Ford F-150 2000, V6, 4.2, Supercab. It has about 300, 000 miles, But Since like 2 years I've been having a poor mpg. I replaced the oxygen sensor, TPS sensor, and other sensors already. But i dont know where I can locate some sensors, such as Map sensor, the cylinder head temperature sensor and the coolant temperature sensor. I wanna know if you guys can help me out with that. It would be awesome if you do. Btw i tried to search and didnt find anything.

Sorry for english, im from mexico

greetings from mexico

I think the 2000 usea a MAF not a MAP.
The MAF should be in the intake (the big tube) between the air cleaner and the throttle body. When you open the air box it will be in the half that doesn't have the air cleaner in it. Do a search for cleaning the MAF.

The engine coolant sensor should be close to the thermostat-where the upper hose goes into the engine.

I think the cylinder head temp sensor it at the back of the driver side head either next to the intake manifold or on the back of the head. Not sure on that one but that is my guess.

Good luck!

Do you have any codes? If so post them.

The o2 sensors can, also vacuum leaks.
And the Plenum gaskets and isolator/mounting bolts.
PCV system and EGR system.

Alot of things can that is why I ask about codes.

Good luck

Another thing that can effect mileage is dragging brakes.

If your brake pad life seems shorter than it should be, check for a sticky caliper.

Well here goes my story. My dad bought the car back in 2004. Last December, an engine valve broke, and we decided to fix the motor and change all the pistons and rings, and everything inside. Everything was fine at first, But Later on, we began to have alot of problems, spark plugs were wet with oil. The car when it started, it was like the engine was not getting gas, and wanted to stop. I got multiple codes for multiple sensors. such as Oxygen and others that i dont not remember because the mechanic lost the paper whit the codes. Well the codes were not back. But the car is still failling. I think the ECM was modified, i dont know if thats why sometimes i got the “check engine soon” light and some others no. Here where i live, there are not mechanics who can tell me exactly what problem my car has. I began to change most of the sensor, i cleaned the maf sensor, i replaced the oxygen sensors, Head Temperature sensor. Right now I'm trying to replace the knock sensor, but i havent find it yet, i found a knock sensor from a 99 f-150 4.2 v6, do you think it would fit in mines? The two sensors are practically the same but the knock sensor of the f150 99 the wires are longer but the conector and everything else are the same. I already changed the fuel filter, spark plug cables. The EGR pressure sensor, Tps sensor, EGR valve,

the sesnsor that i havent changed are: the crank angle sensor, ambien air temperature sensor, air charge sensor , crankshaft position sensor, i dont know what else to do, if you guys can tell me what can i check,or replace, or what sensor can be causing my cars problems.

Thanks, greetings

If you are still getting oil on the spark plugs you are waisting your money randomly changing sensors.

It sounds like when you did the rings, maybe you didn't hone/bore the cylinders, the new rings won't seat to slick cylinder walls.

Maybe you need to do a compression check and post what you have for each cylinder.

Oil on the plug can come from bad valve seals or worn guides also.

From your discription it sounds like your problem is mechanical and not computer or sensor related.

Does anyone down there have an OBD2 code reader?
