Plenum gaskets ans isolator bolts

Gettin ready to dive into changing the plenum gaskets. I think I've got a grip on it except...

Do I need to also change the valley gasket too?
It's been running the famous 171 & 174 codes.

I've checked out the write up but was wondering if I need to look for anything special while I'm doing the surgery.

Thanks in advance
Jim

There is already a good link...http://sites.google.com/site/fordf15...p0174fix/Home/
Just wondered if there was something to keep an eye on while it's under the knife.
I would add ---check the grommets on the IMRC while you are in there for anybody else doing this. Thist is the BEST EVER look you will get at that baby!!!

ALL DONE!!!!
Smooth as silk, gotta run it awhile to see if the codes re-appear.
Two worst parts of this job are;
1) That insulator on the fire wall-if I was gonna do this again I might take off the fan shroud and motor mounts. I think this would give you much more room.
2) Cleaning the plenum-I got kinda **** on it cuz I like the inside of my motor squeeky clean when I put things back together. That baby looked like new!!

The write up in my earlier post is spot on, the guy did a good job on it.

And I learned some new words, like HOWINTHEFLIPPINGSAMHILLAMSUPPOSEDTOGETAWRENCHINTHE RE ! I used that one alot! haha

But it really wasn't that tough.

Congrats!

I did the job last Thursday and the worst part was one bolt in the back that I wore a blister on my figer gettin' out. I've got 200 mi. on it now and no codes.

I wish I would have had this little tool - it's a 90 degree, gearless angle adapter - 1/4" drive; but got 'er done anyway.

Only injury I got was hurt my arm patting myself on the back after I took it for a test drive!!!!! That and kicking myself in the butt for not doing it a long time ago.

Pretty neat having a new truck tho!
