I know this has been discussed before. I'm wondering where the iac is located on my 2007 4.2L v6. I have had a grumpy idle in this truck since I bought it new over 2 years ago. It has almost 40,000 miles on it. I had the dealer check it out once but of course they could find nothing wrong. From what I've been reading here and on f150.net it sounds like this iac could be the culprit. I have no CEL and the truck runs and drives just fine. Could this potentially become more of a problem? Does this hurt mileage? Also, there are some days when the truck idles perfectly fine but most of the time not. Thanks for any input.
04+ MY do not have an IAC with throttle by wire.
The throttle body is operated by the throttle valve, and the position is confirmed by the TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor ).
For the idle problem, might want to clean the MAFS / IAT sensors. Use MAFS safe throttle body cleaner, the can will specifically say this.
Once you clean it, it could take a few drive cycles to relearn, else disconnect the battery for 10 min, and after that take it for 2 drive cycles to complete the tests.

On the 04 + MY, they are a single unit vs. the 97-03 where they were 2 different items.

The MAFS & IAT are both in the same module, on the side of the air filter mount.

Ok I have cleaned both the sensors with MAFS safe cleaner. Funny thing too is the can claimed 4-10 rwhp gain for using the product.
Anyway, the rough idle is still there. I'm guessing my truck is just a little particular wheni it comes to idling smoothly. Oh well. I guess I'll see if it ever becomes more of a problem down the road. Thanks for the help.

That would be affirm on the battery disconnect. The battery was disconnected at least 10 minutes or more during the whole process. If there are any other ideas that anyone can throw my way concerning this, I'll be happy to entertain them. Thanks again.
