P0171 is bank 1 (passenger side) too lean, and P0300 is random misfire. It probably needs a tuneup (spark plugs, wires, etc.) but you should check for vacuum leaks. If the engine build date is prior to 1/15/98 your lower intake gaskets may be leaking coolant into the cylinders, and that's a VERY bad thing.

this truck had that hydro lock happen, it had 89,000 miles on it, and they put a jasper motor in it. the truck has 121,000 on it now. the truck was a fleet truck for a goverment hospital, and they had the motor put in. so i should start with the plugs and wires? i checked the milage and im getting 16 mpg, and when im going down the road , it runs good, but not so good when stoped in gear, thanks jim

Another thing to check - remove the coil pack, clean it up real good, and check for carbon tracks and cracks.
