headers?

Hey I was wondering if anyone on here has headers? and what kind of performance gains they noticed, if it was worth the investment, and what brand is a good buy? Thanks.

I've heard that the 3.8 liter V6 Mustang longtubes will bolt to the 4.2, but I have yet to hear how well that works and what it sounds like. I am very curious though.

I did some more research. I found Gibson, JBA, and MAC headers made specifically for the 4.2L. idk which are the best. I think I might go with the JBA headers. Troyers site has them and has them listed for a 12-14 hp gain on a bone stock truck.

Just don't but shorties, as they have no residual reflection of the exhaust timing.

I am wanting to recall that the LTs need to be trimmed a bit to fit a under our hood, at least on the 97-03 trucks.

Those are all good companies. I have seen more people with the MAC headers and are more than happy with them. JBA and Gibson are just so darn expensive!

I would try to find a set of longtubes before you go shorties, and it does change the exhaust note a tiny bit...

I havent been able to find any longtube headers for the 4.2L. Do they even make them?

Try finding out if LTs from a 3.8 L Mustang will fit our trucks with minimal cutting/adjustment.
