stuck coolant drain plug (block plug). How do I remove it?

'99 4.2l, never had the coolant block drain plug removed. I tried to remove it, but it's in there good (probably rusty). What's the proven method for removal? Impact gun?
I plan to let it soak w/SP3 penetrant overnight. Anyone have the plug head break off? It's one of those square head plugs. Thanks for any info.

anyone remove their coolant drain plug?

thought I'd check again. Been soaking it w/penetrating oil for a week, hopefully it will come out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

May not be possible to get it out. If not, just drain and refill the radiator every year versus two years.

After breaking a tool trying to get mine out the other day, I'm thinking this is my new plan.

An Impact works if you can get on it and you have the RIGHT socket lol.

You'll be surprised what that will do for yuh.

Or yea, you can always do a half *** job - Don't be surprised where that gets yuh.

BTW- Soaking won't help a bit unless it's broken loose.
