V6 Power

allright i own a 2003 v6 f150 5 speed, and was wondering wat others are doing to their engine internals to produce horsepower and withstand forced induction system if you could provide some info thad be great before i start to build my engine up to with stand forced induction. and im in the process of making a twin turbo kit for my truck.

depends the only person on here with F.I. is TJ and he's running a 8psi turbo setup on the stock motor.

Supersixmotorsports.com has good products but they are kinda $$$.

Forged Internals, New Heads, might want to look into a completely built motor including the block!

How much power you lookin for?

ProjectMayhem 06-30-2008 03:11 PM

right now im looking for atleast 350+ but thats a pretty steep goal on a stock engine. ive thought about fully built engines but im not sure where to get one right now

4.2trimble 06-30-2008 03:15 PM

the only one i can find is from SSM and its 6-7k which is crazy! I working on my project now. but i HAVE to have a built engine so im still looking!

ProjectMayhem 06-30-2008 03:21 PM

wow that site is awsome im thinking the power pack and then some forged internals will be good right now and then my engine should be able to withstand low boost or maybe up to 11 psi.... maybe lol

4.2trimble 06-30-2008 03:30 PM

yeah its really all in the tuning! The weakest point in the stock engine is the pistons and rods. If you jump to Forged then you are getting rid of the weakest link. and you can up the PSI.

You may have problems keeping that Mazda 5 speed together if you juice up the engine that far.

yeah i was kinda thinking the same thing but didnt have any advice on fixing that problem. Switch to a auto tranny or a 4r100? that seems like a big project though!

i like the idea of a turbo but theres no way to get a turbod truck to pass emissions

?? something I say? But anyway theres no emission testing here in florida...yet!

x_sgs_x 06-30-2008 04:43 PM

No i was talking about the guy above, maybe i could run Cats. Dunno

4.2trimble 06-30-2008 04:48 PM

i thought turbos had clean emissions since they burnt the exhaust gas twice?? im probably wrong!

x_sgs_x 06-30-2008 05:22 PM

Makes Sensne

ProjectMayhem 06-30-2008 07:15 PM

the turbos dont effect emissions. they are running the exhuast through the turbo to make the turbine spin which then draws in fresh air into the engine. you can still run high flow cats and muflers after the exhaust exits the turbo. and the exhuast is only run once through the engine. i maybe wrong on this so dont quote me. and yes i will be building up my engine and will find a manual transmission to cope with the power i will hopefully be producing. i will get pictures as soon as i start but i should be within a couple months.
my goal for the 4.2 in my truck is 350+ NA and 450+ FI if i could achieve this i will be very happy. but as i said my truck is going under the knife soon and will be getting lowered and repainted. and my motor will be getting rebuilt to produce max horspower.

its only hard to pass emissions testing when the guy doing the test doesnt know what hes looking at.

some emissions testing places here in texas will fail you for not having the stock intake.

if you go twin turbo are you keeping all your emissions parts like pcv and egr? because if not ... that does effect emissions. and its enough to fail you.

i deleted my pcv and the next thing on my list is egr when i rebuild my turbo kit.
