MPG increase with Troyer Performance Underdrive Pulley!

I have ran two tanks of gas since installing a Troyer underdrive pulley. I love the extra umph the truck has but the best is the increase of fuel mileage.

I was getting 15-16 mpg and the last two tanks have averaged 18 mpg. I know some of you may not think this is much, but I think it is great! I have not changed the way I drive either.:beers:

I wonder if installing some headers would give me another 1 mpg?

:rocker:

Sounds good. Where did you get it from?

I would assume Troyer.......

Yea, I was about to say... under-drive pulley typically means a supercharger rigging when I hear it... thats me coming from the import scene though.

I might look into this...

But what does it exactly do? I mean in my old Honda Si an after market crankshaft pulley generally doesn't do ***** in performance.

It spins the accessories slower - especially the bigass clutch fan. Less parasitic drag. Your Honda has an electric fan.

I purchased the pulley from Troyer Performance.

Fifty150 10-04-2007 10:45 PM

I didn't know that was available for the 4.2L V6

Grey1998 10-04-2007 11:06 PM

Yes, I have found that some parts are available for the 4.2. I just wish I had the money for more parts!!!! I guess I will have to save to purchase something else later.

Do you think that it will effect emissions for the Smog Check? I live in California where we have the toughest smog regulations in the country. Did you install it yourself? Or would it be better to have a qualified mechanic perform the installation?

glc 10-05-2007 01:54 PM

I don't see how it would affect emissions.

remmy 10-05-2007 01:58 PM

^ I agree. Tampering with the exhaust (cat) or adjusting a/fs would do it. I know there are some other things but thats the basics.

Grey1998 10-05-2007 10:48 PM

I did it myself!

Changing out the pulley was simple. I loosened the bolts on the pulley. Took the belt off. Changed out the pulley and finger tightened the bolts(put thread lock!) put the new belt on, tightened the bolts and started it up. Has not given me any problems.

How much was the pulley????
