Weird noise when I "floor" it

Anytime I floor it, something starts clinking or ticking under accelaration at high rpm's. It doesnt happen under normal driving. It's kinda embarassing when I try to show off the truck and it starts making funny noises. Anyone else ever have this happen or have any guesses as to what this might be? Thanks, all help is appreciated!!

Sounds like spark knock a.k.a. detonation...which is BAD. You might try running a higher octane fuel and see if it still happens.

Could be a timing problem. Read this:

Quit trying to show off with a V-6 and the problem will be eliminated.

But that's what people of my age/maturity do.

carbon buildup

I had this happen on a 93 302w and all it took to fix it was several bottles of sea foam in the gas tank to clean the carbon deposits out and it was good. You can get this stuff at any auto parts store.

For now, try a tank of premium gas, see if it goes away.

So if I run a tank full of premium gas and the problem goes away, does that mean I will have to keep running premium to keep the problem away? Thanks!

Rather than wasting money on high test gas, get several cans of sea foam, un hook one of the vacum tubes and stick the tube into the can and suck the sea foam directly into the engine. Trust me, been there done that. If this doesn't work, then you have some bigger problems ($$$).
