Truck won't even crank over

Hello, I'm a new member with a 2000 F150 4.6v8, 100,000 miles on a clean and great looking truck.I just bought it about a month and a half ago and love it . I went to start her up today and NOTHING happened when I turned the key. I have full battery power ,all the bells and whistles lit up ,so I am at a loss at why it won't crank. This is the first time it has done anything like this, it has been starting and running great.Any ideas would be welcome .Thanks and glad to be a Ford member.:help:
I just realized this thread is for v-6 engines ,mine is a v8, but what the heck.

so it wont turn over? just dead click? for it not to turn over at all is crazy :(

Yes it's crazy.I'm wondering if the aftermarket alarm system has something to do with it?Like an ignition kill or something .

Check all the fuses, under the hood and under the dash

That happened to me a couple months ago, 'cept mine only clicked when I turned the key. Turned out that a cable going to the starter was really lose. I just had to put on a new nut and washer since it was so rusty.

I think most agree it's probably the wire right at the starter connector that's the cause . I'm goin' under first thing tommorrow. Thanks for the input

Starter solenoid area should be the first thing you check. the starter solenoid is on the firewall by the battery. It has a big wire going in it, another going out. It has a little red wire going to it as well.
Remove the little red wire, and connect it to a test light. turn the key to start, and if the test light doesnt light, its probably the starter kill in your alarm. If it does light, then check the wiring from the solenoid to the starter

Found the problem

The problem with my truck not cranking was my "neutral switch" .It's all fixed and ready to go. Thanks for the input.:beers:
