I seriously need my plugs and wires changed on my truck. I have over 80,000 miles on the original ones. I have heard one of the plugs is very hard to get to plus I am not very good at working on cars.

So where would you guys recommend as a good place to go? I know there are the dealers, but I am thinking other repair shops might be cheaper. I don't have a great deal of money to spend but I really need this done.

Try here.http://www.napaautocare.com/Locator/...lFacilityPos=8

Your location says North Florida, so I just typed in Tallahassee. You can put in any location or zip code and find one closer to you if you don't live near Tallahassee.

Hope that helps Paul.

Actually I live in Jacksonville. I checked and found several. 2 of them are within 3 miles of my house. I'll have to call around on Tuesday and see what they charge.

Thanks

I also changed mine myself and it's not as bad as it is made out to be....

Buy a manual and do it yourself-the price of plugs and wires can be off-set by the labour you'll save.

Be sure to use the proper tools doing the plugs-you know like a plug socket with the rubber in it and a torque wrench so you don't crack the porceline on the plug.....

A torque wrench? Pffffffft, just tighten them until you're blue in the face!
Seriously, don't forget the antiseize and dielectric grease. Also,go back with Motorcraft parts.

Yea and I forgot the 6 foot long power bar to make sure they are real tight...

Good point to remember the dialectric grease and anti-seize.

Only one plug is a piece of work to get out, the others aren't so bad...
Giver 'er a shot, it'll save you some coin for sure...

I did mine myself too. It wasn't too bad of a job. Re-routing the wires kind of aggrevated me a little though. Still running like a top.

which one of these plugs is hard to get out?
None of them cant be done with simply a spark plug socket, 3" long extension, and a 3/8" drive ratchet.

The back corner passenger side because of the damned EGR tube running in the way.

It's not that hard just harder than the driver's side. I had to go through the wheel well and put the socket on then go from the top to turn it. Still changing the plugs took me all of 20 minutes..

I use Motorcraft Fine-wire plugs, and Autolite Professional Series plug wires with no problems. My engine runs alot smoother, and it feels like my engine picked up a little extra horsepower/trq.
