Cool how much hp?

i have a 2005 4.2L, if i were to get the AF1 cai when it comes out, the xcal2, and a gibson "super truck" exhaust system, how much HP should i expect to gain? do you guys think these would be worth the effort, or just wait to get a truck w/ a v8 ? thanks

as of now there is no way to know.If I were to guesstimate then I would say somewhere around 25 hp..The biggest gain will be the improvement to the overall characteristics of the truck overall. You need to drive a tuned truck to feel the difference. It is very noticeable IMHO.It will also close the gap between the 4.2 & a stock v8.I don't rave about things, but the xcal2 and troyers tunes I feel are worth the investment.Don't change the size of your original pipes on your exaust, the 4.2 does not like that.It needs a certain amount of back pressure. You might want to research this before you change things!Good luck on your decision

hey thanks TSDan. so changing the pipes would be bad, even if they are specifically made for my truck? maybe i am wanting too much from a v6, cause im just a 16 year old kid who wants to have a badass truck that will move fast at the same time...

same here. i have learned that if you have a truck, drive like a truck. dont floor it, make sharp turns, burn out, or anything else you would do in a sports car. just drive it. dont get me wrong...i'm going to get an intake and later a P&P but just for the power...not to go street racing or whatever.

overall...its a truck...its not made to go fast...so just strap your dirtbike in the back and ride the bike like you stole it...not the truck.

i never intended to take a truck street racing... lol... but uve got a good point. i always knew a truck is a truck, not a sports car, but it would be nice to have that power under the hood occasionaly. maybe ill buy a beater car, and fix it up... keep the truck for everyday use

Hey GuitarDude11 don't misunderstand me if you have the bucks, time and patients you can make the 4.2 ltr a racer. There are guys that put the bottle to it, some guys built there own turbo setup on them.Go to
www.v6f150.com
This site has more guys that have done more to their trucks in the direction you might be looking towards.
