Alternator?

I have a 97 f150 2wd. No tow package v6. I need to know what output alternator I have. I also want to know if it would be powerful enough to support a 1200 watt stereo with a capacitor and dual 16 inch electric fans.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Well, using Ohm's law you find that your stereo alone could suck up about 100A at max power usage. If you're going to invest that much in your stereo, I'd upgrade to a higher output alternator, since I'm pretty sure the one you have puts out about 120A and you still need to light off your spark plugs. Hope this helps.

I don't think the output is even that much, it's closer to 90Amps. Defiintely not enough for a 1200W system much less with the system AND the dual fans. No way!

I heard there is a high output alternator with 135 amps. Is it possible to install this one to my current setup. If it is, will it support my system and electric fans or do I need to spend the extra money and buy the 200 amp alternator. All help is appreciated.

Also is there any way to tell which alternator you have, that would also help a lot in my search.
