Im considering buying a 99 4.2 liter v6 f-150

hello im new to this site and want to know if there is any problems that they normaly have it has 70k miles on it thank you for any help you can give

Hi. Welcome. You should be fine. '97s and '98s had some issues with the 4.2 but a '99 should be fine. I have an '01 4.2 and like it just fine. No problems.

And to answer your question, there are TONS of parts. In fact, more and cheaper parts then the 4.6/5.4

CAI
Muffler/catback
Efans
UD pulley
SCT tune from Justin@vmp

These above bolt-ons will wake your truck up.

the issue with 97 and 98 was bad intake and head gaskets.

Gasket design was changed for 99.

These motors are bullet-proof and should go several hundred thousand miles with no issues.

When I traded my 98 V6 for an 04, it was mechanically solid with 200,000 on it. Steering, braking and handling were as tight as the 20,000 mark. I could have driven it for many more years except I needed to trade the reg cab for a crewcab (started a family)

With that age you should get a deal on price and a deal on insurance for a rock solid vehicle with a *****load of oomph (once you learn the auto tranny shift pattern)

yea man the 99s are awsome mine has 90,000 and run like it was new.. ull be happy with it..
