Airforce 1 Intake and Superchip
I own a 02 F150 XLT and was looking at Mike Troyer's Airforce One Intake and Superchip combo for a 4.2 L engine. Has anyone out there pruchased these items? I'm almost ready to purchase the combo i just wanted to see how these products workedfor the people who bought them before i make a final decision.
Thanks

Well , I've orderd them both .... Last Friday ! They are not here yet . I will post how they do in my truck about 2 hours after i get them . Then at one week., and 2 weeks.
From everything I've heard and read this is the most you can do for the least amount of money to your truck.

I have the chip with an Airaid intake. The chip was a great addition to my '99 V6, and adds noticeable power even at low and medium rpm. I removed mine recently as an experiment - it's never coming out again.
Without the chip, my mileage decreased about 10%, but premium fuel is about 10% more expensive, so there was no real $$ savings with the chip. But the truck is MUCH more fun to drive.
I assume the Airaid will have similar performance improvements to the Airforce. On my truck, the Airaid added a noticeable power gain above 3,000 rpm, with much more engine roar at wide open throttle. Under normal driving, light throttle, it did not seem to add more power or noise.

This is probably a stupid question but can you put a superchip in truck with a manual transmission? The descriptions all mention modified shift points but to me it sounds like they are talking about an automatic transmission
Yes, you can put a chip in a vehicle with a manual. The power gains should be the same as with an auto. On the stock F150 automatics, Ford's computer gives very slow, 'soft' shift, which robs forward progress. Thankfully, the chip makes it shift like an automatic street vehicle should (not super harsh like a drag racer, just much better than stock).
Installed the Superchip and Airforce One.......... Man what a difference...... Wish I did it when I first bought the truck !

However, I was hoping to get at least a second off my quarter mile....
