Howdy FoMoCo,

There's not much difference in the engines. The Vic has more power. Just drop it in. Make sure you use the vic's computer, and all sensors. You will need a V-8 rad and fan shroud unless u use a electric fan. All '99 and later 4.6's have the P-1 heads , more power! While you have the engine out add headers and dual exhaust, since ur exhaust will not fit. Plus more power and MPG's.

Dude, I feel ur pain on ur motor. I just got mine back on the road after breaking a rod. Same old thing. Intake gasket leak. I had the truck down at the dealership when it first "acted up" ( Feb 2001). Was told they did not have any recalls (which they did), but said they would look at it for $55.00 per hour. After the engine Locked up and bent the rod on #1 cylinder I replaced all the gaskets and drove it another 36,000 miles until the rod broke. I replaced it w/ a '99 4.2 V-6.

Good luck....Paul

Howdy FoMoCo,

You DO NOT have to lift ur cab, but it might make it a little easier. When pulling the V-6 its alot easier if you pull all the A?C, P/S alt, fan, and upper intake.

Plus the more u remove on the 4.6, the easier it will be to "stick it" in.

Paul
