How much is your truck worth according to KBB?
Retail value: $22,795
Trade in value: $18,870
Hmmm a dealer can be expected to make almost $4,000 according to KBB #s
I paid: $20,318 brand new
MSRP new: $22,615
Hmmm KBB retail value is more than MSRP new?
Well that goes to show how accurate KBB is.
point is KBB is written for used car dealers by used car dealers.
Thats how a dealer can advertise $2,000 below book value and still chagre as much for a used one as a new one.
Punch your trucks in the KBB value see what you come up with. www.kellybluebook.com
Please note I am just refering to the used pricing.
Thier new pricing and invoice seems to be right on target.
And that brings around another point, even KBB says that it is cheaper to buy new than used.

OK, here goes:
MSRP : 24,400.00
Paid : 21,583.00
Trade: 19,925.00
Retail:23,995.00
So my truck has only depriciated $405.00 over 6500 mi. That is only 0.16 per mi. Not too bad.
Anyone actualy trade one? How far off is KBB?

So true. KBB, used car dealers. I found the same thing a month ago and emailed them about it. They sent back some snotty email saying they never claimed to be a consumer advocate etc etc. Pretty bad. Needless to say I use edmunds now for any info I need.. .02.. thanks

I used KBB to figure my price for my new 2000 f-250 super duty crew cab 4x4 Lariat. It was right on the money. I bought my truck for $1500 over DEAL invoice price.

2hi4u - Too bad you didn't find this site sooner. You coulda saved money. Most folks order through the fleet manager and pay only 300 to 500 over invoice. (You can get a bunch of toys for the extra grand...)
Did you get the 5.4l or a "real" engine in your Super Duty?
The 5.4 is Great in a LD truck - but the SD deserves a V-10.
BTW - I found KBB to be accurate on "new" prices, myself. I just attempted to get a value for mine, used, and it said there wasn't enough data to give me a price.
Who would trade a 99 SD anyway??

Question

Most the people I've talked to (including my brother) have had no problems ordering their F-150's for $100-$300 above invoice. Are the dealers wanting more than that for the SD's?

Super Duties must be very popular. My company just worked a deal with Ford where employees are elligable for the "X plan" because we buy so many Ford company vehicles. We can use the plan on any Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury EXCEPT the Excursion (no surprise there) or the Super Duty.

Kelley bluebook is acurate for new-vehicle
prices because all is in black and white on the invoice, hard to screw that up but when it comes to used they are always way too high usually several thousand dollars.

i paid $50.00 over invoice for my Truck

Retail - $26,415
Trade - $21,185
I think the retail figure is the same, if not more, than I paid for it (less the taxes). I priced out a 2000 with similar features and got a dealer price of $26,125. Doesn't make much sense, two years newer and 6,000 miles less. Then again sticker price is much higher.

KBB has the ordering codes that the dealer uses to make your order. I've been putting together a F250 I want and found a code for an XLT Upgrade pkg at a whooping price of "N/C" (that's free,or no charge) I called the dealer about it, they had never heard of this but would get back with me. They called me back to say they "found" the code and yes I could have it for... N/C!! This upgrade has cab steps, rear privacy glass, AM/FM/CD/cassett upgrade, 5 AS OWL 265/75/16 tires and a sliding rear window. All for Free on the XLT Diesel. So for me, KBB is great on information. As a side note, after you pay for the upgrade to a diesel, Ford really should give you all the other options

Tina -- The order code for the "XLT Upgrade Package" is 60D. For those interested, please note that it applies only to 2000 Super Duty F250 - F550 XLT's with diesel engine AND manual transmission (Tina's got to be lovin' that combo). Currently, orders must be received and SCHEDULED by December 31, 1999 to be eligible.

What a GREAT deal, Tina
I'm sure you'll love your new SD.
The XLT was our choice, too. Didn't especially care for the leather seats.
We added every other option available and when we had our 5th wheel delivered, the professional driver described our truck as a "Luxury Truck". He usually delivers with a '96 F-350. He said he'd lobby the boss for a Super Duty after driving ours!
Enjoy!

Question

Does anyone have knowledge of dealer prices on a 97-98 extended cab F150? Will a dealer sell the truck at trade-in value? I am about to return to the States and need to find a 97-98 F150 in the Ft Collins, CO to Cheyenne, WY area.

gjc: I don't think you will find a dealer willing to let go of his $profit$ I'm in NC and right now there's a 97 4x4 in the paper for $20k. It's to bad you're not coming near the east coast as I'm also ready to sell my 97 (with all the goodies on it) so I can order a 2000. Maybe give a thought to taking a vacation my way Check my sig, the only thing I'm transfering to the new truck is the amp!!! It also has an extended warrenty, LUND bug shield and heavy duty shocks.
